Project Two: Research Proposal
As someone with close, personal ties to victims of sexual assault and abuse, I am curious about the community of lawyers who try those cases. I am very intrigued with how the prosecution handles each of the case and the work and documentation that goes along with it. As for a specific research question, I still have not really narrowed down what I am distinctly interested in finding out. This subject is distinctly special to me because my family and I have suffered at the behest of prosecutors and police who failed to win the case of my sister’s molestation and rape, by our uncle. I know that every case can be won, but to see what goes into trying a case of that manner would ease a piece of my mind when it comes to what happened with my sister, and many young girls just like her who fail to get the justice they seek. As for the actual research and how I plan on weaving it all together, I hope to interview a prosecutor from the state so I can get a better picture of the process and hopefully find a specific portion of it that fuels my interest and allows me to come up with a more specific inquiry. I already contacted the advisor for the pre-law fraternity I am a part of and she gave me the names of some people to call and talk to, because sexual assault and abuse cases were not her expertise.
